Thammasat X UN Women pioneer Gender-Responsive Procurement.
Faculty of Learning Sciences and Education, Thammasat University (LSEd) is Thailand’s first higher education institution to pioneer a Gender-Responsive Procurement: GRP initiative with UN Women and is selected as one of six organizations in Thailand to be a member of the Leaders Learning Lab (LLL) initiative by UN Women. The project aims to expand market opportunities for women entrepreneurs through the creation of a diverse supplier network and procurement that takes into account gender equality.
The Leaders Learning Lab (LLL) initiative was officially launched at the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit Hotel with the presence of Assistant Professor Dr. Adisorn Chantrasuk, Dean, and Professor Dr. Sahavarat Polharn, Associate Dean, for Administration and Network Relations, Ms. Kamolkarn Khamphoo, General Administration Officer and Ms. Nawanan Kerdnak, Public Relations Officer represented the Faculty to attend the event in discussing and exchanging with members of The Leaders Learning Lab (LLL).
In the next stage, the six members of The Leaders Learning Lab (LLL) initiative will work together to exchange knowledge, and develop feasible policy and practical approaches to expand market opportunities for women entrepreneurs through various supplier networking and procurement that takes into account gender equality or shopping, services and structural works by considering the impact on gender equality and women’s empowerment to provide business owners with variety, especially women to have equal opportunities to access capital networks and markets, including the procurement market in particular.
With only 1% of the global procurement chain currently being procured by women, this disparity prevents business owners with diverse demographics from getting started, expanding their business and operating the business to grow to its full potential.
